can you do me a favor?

Brett: Hey babe, can you do me a huge favor?
Me: Hm?
Brett: You haven't blogged since August 31. Can you blog about how much you love me?

Yes this was a legitimate conversation that Brett and I just had. Although I don't know if you can include what I "said" as having an actual conversation. I wish that you all could be a fly on the wall for the many hilarious conversations that Brett and I have (yes he was joking about the blog, but here it is).

So this is my blog about how much I love Brett. But seriously though, he has been great during this time of never-ending transition. Brett can adapt to change a lot better than I can (something I've learned very quickly during this season of life), so through my many melt downs and freak out moments, he is always there to care for me so well. He has such a servants heart - even though he will tell you that is an area he wants to grow in. He listens well and tries SO hard to make me laugh, which usually makes me laugh just because he puts in so much effort :). I love my husband despite not knowing where we are going to live when we get to Baton Rouge, when we will not be living with my parents anymore (no offense mom and dad :)), or how/when we will ever get a second car. There are a lot of unknowns in life right now, but I do know that God is good and I have someone on my team...Brett!

I know I will be able to look back on this season and see how much I grew with the Lord, and how much Brett and I grew as a couple. It can be hard to see in the midst of everything going on, but I trust the Lord that He is good and has a plan that is far greater than anything I could ever even pretend to imagine.

Until next time (which honestly will probably be another month),

I'm not that interesting

So my life is not that interesting as of late. But I actually remembered to blog and wanted to. So what does one blog about when their life is not interesting? Whatever I want :)

One thing I love about living at home with my parents is the fun late nights Brett and I spend talking with my dad! The 3 of us are all a bad influence on one another because we stay up way to late chatting away, but it has really been a highlight of my time at home. I am thankful for Brett who is a HUGE question asker. So of course, he asks my dad questions about life that I would have never even thought to ask, because....he's my dad. And I already know him. RIGHT?! Well, actually I've learned a TON about my dad's childhood, passions, work, and just his life in general. It's really fun. Hopefully the feeling is mutual :).

Tonight Brett and I made dinner for my parents. We try to do this often since they are letting us stay in their house, but we have realized that we have more night/dinner appointments with ministry partners than we thought, so this is actually only the 3rd time we've cooked for them. OOPS. Anyway, I combined several different recipes and made garlic-lime chicken (idea taken from Brett's cousin Kimberly, who got the recipe from Pioneer Woman) with a Mango-Peach salsa/relish to go on top (Brett's sister Julia made this for a family gathering and I loved it!). We had sides of cilantro-lime rice and crescent rolls. Absolutely delicious other than going a little heavy on the cilantro. It was fun to cook since we haven't in a while and to try out a new dish that was easy and inspired by people I love. I'll leave you with the recipe!

Click HERE to get the chicken recipe. The Pioneer Woman made this with a corn relish, but I changed that out and did the Mango-Peach salsa because I had loved it so much when Julia made it.

Here is what I used for the Mango-Peach salsa, all props to Julia Marcos:
2 mangos (slice to small sqaures)
1 peach (slice to small squares) - I added this to Julia's recipe b/c I like peaches - and I was slightly afraid that the mango wasn't good so I wanted the peach to balance it out - ha!
1/4 red onion (cut up finely)
1/4 cup of cilantro (cut up to small pieces)
1 tablespoon of lime juice
salt and pepper to taste

Mix it all together and put a spoonful over the chicken :)

The Salsa - I also love that it's colorful!
And for the rice I just went to good old allrecipes.com. Click HERE for that recipe. We used minute rice though :)

Until next time,

Kim

Houston

Once again I'm back to the feeling of "it's been too long since I've blogged, WHAT DO I WRITE ABOUT?!". I can't believe a whole month has gone by. Well lots has happened so I'll give you the BRIEF update!

We are currently in HOUSTON as we raise our financial support to get to our new ministry assignment at LSU (yay!) . I've lived in Houston my whole life until college, but I've learned the city more in the past 3 weeks than I ever have in my whole life! We've been seeing lots of people on all different sides of town which = LOTS of time in the car.

Before we got to H-town we stopped in Lubbock and moved all of our stuff into a U-haul and then drove it down here where it currently sits in a not-so-beautiful storage unit.

We also celebrate our 1 year anniversary on July 31! It was really fun! We went to downtown Houston, got massages, ate at a fancy place, got dessert at the Cheesecake factory (which it was national cheesecake day so it was 1/2 off...who knew they did that just for our anniversary ;) ), stayed at a high rise hotel and had a wonderful brunch the next morning. Brett planned the whole thing and it was sooo good to relax before getting started on our support raising journey!

So now, here we are, we are in the middle of week 4 of raising support. The Lord is teaching us a LOT about His provision for us, relying and TRUSTING on Him, and how to love one another well in the midst of spending 24 hours a day 7 days a week with one another. Literally :).

A few of my favorite things about living in Houston for the time being:
  1. We get to see our family often: my parents (we are living with them), my sister and bro-in-law (they live 10 min. from us), Brett's sister Julia (we've had several family gatherings), Brett's sister Jessica and her husband Griffin (we are currently staying with them for a few days since a lot of our appointments have been near their apartment), Brett's parents (they are in the states a little longer before they go back to Italy)
  2. We see my cute niece almost everyday since my mom is her nanny. I love her so much I can't stand it!
  3. We've eaten lots of good food
  4. We live in a CITY and I like that a lot - even though we may drive 45 minutes to get somewhere, those 45 minutes feel a LOT closer than the 45 min. from Lubbock, TX to Post, TX :)
  5. Getting to connect with lots of people I don't see on a regular basis
And really there is just one main thing I am not liking:
  1. HEAT + HUMIDITY

So there is my mini update. I don't promise to write more often although I DESIRE to do so :)

Until next time,

Kim

CRU

It's been a while since I've updated...so here is the run down of happenings since then.

1. We spent an intense last week of New Staff Training learning how to raise up a team of ministry partners.
2. We saw the very last Harry Potter with the Burgers - some great new friends from California! I cried.
3. We were officially commissioned as Campus Crusade for Christ Staff.
4. We went to Boulder with more new friends from California - the St. Pier's!
5. I got my hair cut.
6. Our New Staff Training is over and the National Staff Conference has begun.
7. We kicked off the conference with a County Fair!
8. Our cafeteria is now crowded.
9. My favorite in-laws are here for the conference and we've been able to spend some good time with them - and of course they brought us gifts from Italia!
10. Campus Crusade for Christ announced their official name change which will take place in early 2012. We will be named CRU, and I love it :)

There has been lots of talk about this whole name change business, and rightly so! Hearing that the well established, 60 yr. old ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ is changing their name is definitely a shock, but it's been a work in progress. I'd encourage you to read my friend Jess's blog about this. It has lots of information on  the name change, the reasoning behind it, and lots of links to more information about it! CLICK HERE to read it!

And of course, I'll leave you with some pics :)
The end of an era :(

We did it - officially staff!

All of our new staff friends from our floor + some :)

Us with Matt and Leah St. Pier! Love them.

Until next time,

Kim

Colorado

I love Colorado! It is so beautiful and I am happy to be out here every other summer for as long as we're on staff with CCC. Yesterday my parents came in town. I LOVE that they plan their vacation in places where they can visit me! (they did this a few summers ago in Santa Cruz as well). Today we went up to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. BEAUTIFUL! I have been there before with my family on a camping trip (yes we used to camp, no I can't really picture our family doing that anymore) but it was in 1997 so I vaguely remembered it. Here are some of my favorites from our trip today:

Bear Lake

Best part of the trip: accidentally finding the RV park we stayed in in '97!! We missed you Jen!

In other news, I finally caved and got on Twitter. You can follow me if you wish @ka_marcos. There is a lot of pressure in the Twitter world...so I don't know how good I'll be at this. Brett is teaching me well though. I've literally asked a Twitter related questions every 2 hours or so since I've had it :).

Until next time,
Kim

we're moving to....

BATON ROUGE!!! It's official, we have been placed at at Louisiana State University! We are VERY excited about this transition, even though it hasn't really hit us yet. It's crazy to think I won't be living in Texas anymore, but I am SO happy that we will only be 4 hours away from our families (in Houston). We've got a lot to learn about Louisiana culture...but it will be a fun adventure. Of course there are natural nerves that come with transition....will we make good friends? will we find a good church? will we get lost every 5 minutes? will we have community? will Brett's stomach handle Cajun food?! You know...the normal fears :). But in reality, we are looking forward to the move and we would be crazy if we weren't nervous!

I know it's been a while, and I predicted that for you in the last post, but we are officially done with our seminary classes!! Well, we still have our final exam for our Theology class on Tuesday, but other than that we are done! It has been an exhausting, draining, fun, learning, crazy 2 weeks...but overall I can say I've enjoyed these classes and have learned a lot. We still have about a month left here in CO. The rest of our time will be learning how to raise our financial support and then a staff conference (where all the staff from the US come!). It feels like time has FLOWN by. My parents are coming in town this next weekend and I think we will make a trip to Estes Park with them, which I am REALLY excited about. I have a vague memory of us going there when I was younger and not being appropriately dressed for the freezing cold and snow at the top of the mountain. This time we'll be better prepared!

I'll leave you with some pictures...

Our view from an afternoon in City Park!

1st Day of Class

Well I figure I'll update now and go ahead and tell you I do not know that I will ever update again in the next 2 weeks! HAH! Today was the first day of our two seminary classes we are taking. I think I will overall enjoy the classes, but here is a glimpse into my day:
  • Class 8-12:30
  • Lunch 12:45-1:30
  • Study/read/do class work 2-6
  • Dinner 6-6:45
  • Study/read/do class work 7-10:30
Those of you who know me well may be wondering if I am exaggerating at all...and aside from a few breaks here and there, I truly am not. I hear the first few days are the hardest, and what can I say?! I have not studied in 2 1/2 years and even then, I don't think I ever did this much work in 1 day! Needless to say, I am exhausted. I still love Jesus...but it was hard to connect with the Lord on a heart level today. I was reminded in 2 simple ways though that God is good and his grace is sufficient.

1. I looked up from my studying and saw the most amazingly beautiful Colorado sky...God is good and kind to give us creation that we can enjoy!
2. Amidst all the reading, I realized on a heart level that the Gospel frees me from having my self worth depend on my own success. Love this.

Until next time (which will probably be a while),

Kim

the dorm

We are loving dorm life! It is definitely funny to be in the dorm again. All of the people on our hall are married couples as well, and no one has been married longer than 2 years...so we are all technically considered newlyweds (I think).  We've already discussed how it could be really easy to never have intentional good time with just Brett and I since there are always people around and always things we can be doing...but this morning we spent some time together exploring Fort Collins and it was really good. The first week of New Staff Training (NST) is technically over. It was exhausting, overwhelming, fun, and exciting all mixed in to one. We have the weekend free and then we will start our 2 seminary classes on Monday. We'll take classes for 2 weeks Mon-Fri. 8-12 and then have the rest of the day to study/do whatever. I'm looking forward to a more set schedule (since I'm a planner and all).

I figured out how to upload the video, so here is our dorm tour!

Until next time,

Kim

We're finally here!

Well we are finally here in Fort Collins, CO for our New Staff Training. We have been anticipating this day loner than we anticipated getting married! Well maybe not longer than I anticipated getting married, but definitely longer than we were engaged! Here is a quick recap of our trip here...

Below is the fire in Raton, NM that caused us to have to backtrack 30 miles and go on a 2 hour detour. It was a rough trip to say the least...but we made it!

It was definitely worth the pain though because we finally arrived at this castle in Colorado Springs and had a wonderful evening eating at a little local Italian restaurant, eating delicious ice cream, and walking through the Garden of the Gods!

The Castle
Brett and I at Garden of the Gods
We were so exhausted from our travels that we went to bed at 9:30!! I mean it was 10:30 Texas time, but still. I don't remember the last time I've gone to bed that early. The early bedtime led to a 6:45 rise and shine time (I don't remember EVER getting up that early without an alarm), but it was so fun to walk around the conference center (Glen Eyrie) and then eat breakfast. We hit the road to meet up with Kelli and Teddy in Denver. I love love love to drive in Colorado. Actually, I love for Brett to drive so I can see the beautiful mountains! We ate lunch with Kelli and Teddy and then hit the road to Fort Collins!

We arrived here around 2pm, got checked into the dorm, met new people, went through registration, met new people, went to dinner, met more new people, and then went to a welcome meeting and reception. Our dorm is right next to Teddy and Kelli (yay!) and some other good friends of ours (Harris and Kristin). There are approximately 200 people joining staff this summer (hence the meeting new people 3 different times). We are excited that this next chapter in our lives is finally beginning! We will find out our official placement on June 26th!!

I tried to upload a video that Brett took of the dorm room, but I can't seem to figure it out...so here are some pictures of our living quarters :)

Our business casual clothes all set out ;)

Until next time,

Kim

yesterday

This is how I spent my day yesterday...
This was the moving team that helped Teddy and Kelli pack up
These are my best friends (yes my shirt says 'I survived Lubbock WINDS' and yes Lubbock winds deserve a shirt for surviving!)
And this is the storage unit...literally packed from floor to ceiling.

And this is what we reverted to after eating a good lunch to give us more energy

Brett

Teddy

We were playing the water bottle game. Basically it goes like this: you have to stand on one foot and try to pick up a water bottle with your mouth without putting your hands on the floor. Some might say it's impossible...but Cotter, Lori, and myself are LIVING PROOF that it is indeed possible.

Kelli and Teddy are all packed up and leaving for Colorado in the morning. We are SO excited that we will be going on this adventure of joining staff with some of our best friends.

We're getting rid of our internet soon, so I may not update until we get to CO.

Until next time,

Kim

best friends

Tonight was probably the last time that Brett and I will host people in our first home. Our house is a mess, there are boxes everywhere, we don't have any food to offer anyone, but I wanted to have people over for dinner. So...we put some charcoal on the grill and told people to bring their own meat/food. It wasn't anything fancy, but I had fun with some of my best friends. It hasn't really hit me that in less than 1 week we will no longer live in Lubbock. Two years ago, my best friends and I all talked about how we weren't going to live in the same city much longer so we should take advantage of the time we have left. Well, some people have come and gone, but 4 of us have prolonged it for two years...and now the time has really come. Megan is going to Australia to teach and she is going to be the best little teacher there is! I have been friends with Megan for a whole DECADE and I love her so much. Kelli and Teddy are joining staff with Crusade as well and will hopefully be back here at Texas Tech. Kelli became one of my best friends very FAST and I am going to miss her so much. Lori and Richard are in a transition waiting to see what happens next with Richards football career. I met Lori in college and again, became fast friends. I've already lived a season of life without her in it but am extremely sad that it has come again, and so fast. As I write this, sitting in my grungy t-shirt and athletic shorts I've had on all day, I think of how grateful I am that I didn't feel the need to change clothes. What I mean by that is this: I feel the freedom to be 100% fully myself around these people. I don't have to dress up. I don't have to do my hair or put on makeup. I don't even have to think through "what we're going to do when they come over". I cherish these things so much and take it for granted. The Lord has blessed me with great friends who love the Lord and encourage me on a regular basis. It will be sad to leave Lubbock...but lets be honest. Lubbock without the people in it is nothing special. I love you girls :)

business casual

So the past 2 1/2 years in ministry has taught me a lot, grown me a lot, and given me a lot in most all areas of my life..except a business casual wardrobe. We are headed to Colorado in 1 week, and on the packing list is some "business casual" clothing for when we interact and meet the President of Campus Crusade and all those sorts of people. Business casual clothing is precisely why I went in to ministry (among many other reasons of course). But the fact is...I've never needed it. I'm just casual, not business. I like to dress up for events and own a handful of dresses and heels, but I feel like that is TOO dressy. Between my clothes and my best friend Kelli's clothes (who is also joining staff) I think we can muster up a few outfits that will work. I did however buy the Old Navy Groupon the other day and today went and bought a pair of navy blue capris that I can dress up or down. I am excited about the purchase but realized I still don't have tops that are not cotton. And apparently cotton is not "business casual" (the two words that are driving me NUTS!).AGH!

Tribute to Brett's Beast

Well, we sold Brett's car yesterday! We are so thankful and blessed that we were able to sell so quickly and for a pretty decent price (considering it was in bad shape and we didn't fix anything that was wrong with it)! It is bittersweet as this was Brett's first car ever! His sweet parents bought him the car toward the end of his Freshman year of college (he didn't need a car in high school since he lived overseas). I remember before we were ever dating, Brett was so excited about the Explorer and he showed it to me after a going away party for a friend. It was getting dark outside and I asked him if the car was purple. I think he was mad :). The Beast (as we named this several years ago on a trip to Chicago) will be greatly missed. There were many good road trips including Chicago, Branson, Houston, Norman etc., LOTS of talks just sitting in the Sonic parking lot, some awesome jam sessions, PLENTY of U-turns, dead birds, some pretty good base (this came from the weird sound the engine often made), our engagement, hauling CRU sound equipment, and lots of trips out to the good old shop at 82nd and Valencia. Beast, you will be forever remembered.

When Brett's Beast was first named...trip to Chicago!
Brett sleeping while driving?...Chicago again.
Driving back from Ransom Canyon after we got engaged!
Brett at his finest :)
Lots of moving...
The End.

update

WOW...it's almost been a MONTH since I've blogged. WHOOPS! I've thought about it several times, and the more time passes, the more I get overwhelmed. Had I kept up with it....I wouldn't get overwhelmed, because I wouldn't have to be writing to update a whole months worth of life. It's the same as catching up with an old friend. The more time passes, the longer the conversation is going to be...but oftentimes no one has time for a 4 hour conversation, so you just keep pushing it off longer and longer. So needless to say, this will not be 4 hours worth of reading...I'll just be short and sweet and leave the unsaid things up for speculation.

- We wrapped things up with our job toward the beginning of May

- We had a 3 day babysitting gig for a sweet family on our staff team. It was SO exhausting and SUCH a good learning experience. My hope is that I'll get to start out the whole mom thing someday with just 1 kid at a time, not jumping into 3 :)

- We headed to Houston about a week after that to spend some time with our family. My niece is getting cuter and cuter by the minute. She is so fun now that she interacts with you and can talk. She said Brett's name twice and didn't say my name. I'm okay with it because at the end of the trip she said 'I love you' to me!

- We are currently back in Lubbock packing our apartment. It's an absolute wreck. Packing isn't a wreck...but the apartment is. I'll just have to get used to the fact that this will be life for the next week or so until we leave.

- We leave for our New Staff Training in Fort Collins, CO in about a week and a half. We are so excited/nervous. Excited to start this new adventure in life...nervous about the unknown (but that's pretty normal for me).

- We plan to have our apartment completely packed before we leave on June 13th.

- We also plan to sell Brett's car before we leave on June 13th. We've had lots of potential buyers and we are praying we can get it off our hands soon and feel good about who we sell it to and the money that we get for it! We'll only need one car for the next phase of our life...so we will save up $ over this next year and then buy one when we eventually move to our TBD location.

- When we get back from Colorado at the end of July we will move our apartment into a storage unit here in Lubbock and then move ourselves and our clothes to Houston to begin the journey of raising support for our ministry. Yup that's right...we're moving in with my parents :)

- While we are in CO this summer, we will find out our placement which will obviously determine where we will eventually move after we are fully funded. I promise, we're more eager to find out than you are....but we'll update the blog as soon as we know!

I think that is all. Not as overwhelming as I thought :) I hope to be better at updating while we are gone...but the unknown that I am anxious about might not leave me lots of spare time...we'll see.

And because posts are always better with pictures...I'll leave you with this.

Yes it's a dumpster, but the little yellow sign says cardboard only so it wasn't gross and it didn't smell. We were just using our resources to get some moving boxes!

transition

Ok ok...I know you've all been dying to know what this "transition" is for Brett and I (even though most of you reading probably already know). Well the cat's out of the bag...we are joining full-time staff with Campus Crusade for Christ this summer! Here are some "Frequently Asked Questions" answered for you all.

FAQs
1. Weren't you already working for CCC? Well, yes. Brett and I are both interns and we are just finishing up our internships (my second year, Brett's first). You can only intern up to 2 years, so we had to decide what was going to be next.

2. How did you come to this awesome decision? We really love our job. We love working with college students and seeing their lives be changed because of Christ. We felt very affirmed through prayer, wise counsel of friends, and our families. It seemed like everyone knew we would be doing this before we did!

3. Will you be going back to work at Texas Tech? We don't know?! CCC assesses placement by the current need of the region, the preference of the people joining staff, lots of prayer, and probably more stuff that I am not fully aware of at this point. Anyway...after lots of thought and prayer, Brett and I feel like the Lord is preparing us to GO and experience ministry in another place. Therefore, we have voiced to our region that we are willing to leave Texas Tech and go somewhere else in the region. We currently do not know our placement, so we are in a time of waiting patiently to find out :)

4. So are you going to end up across the world? No. Not at this point at least. CCC in the United States is divided into regions and currently we are in the Red River Region which is made up of Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma & Arkansas. So, we will end up in one of those 4 states.

5. When will you find out where you will be placed? We will know for sure by the end of June.

6. When will you officially go to the location you will be placed? We have a lot of things ahead of us before we end up in our TBA location. First, we will be going to Fort Collins, CO this summer for 6 weeks for our New Staff Training. Following the training, we will be moving in with my parents (woo hoo!) to raise all of our financial support needed. Once we are at 100% of our support goal, we will then move to our placement.

So I think that about covers all the basics at this point. I'll keep you all posted with what happens with our future. We are trusting the Lord with our future and are excited for wherever God takes us :)

If you want more details, let me know!

a picture update

So it's been a while since I've blogged, so in order for this to not get too out of control wordy, I'll do a short update via pictures!

This is Brett and I on Easter Sunday. It was our first Easter as a married couple :). We spent the afternoon with our "2nd family"...the staff team here! Below are all of the Staff kids getting ready to find the Easter eggs that we hid!

To the right is a picture of the most delicious thing I have ever tasted in my life. Exaggerating? Probably not. I mentioned a few blogs back about Brett's awesome cake balls that he made. Well, he outdid himself once again with this Triple Layer Chocolate Cheesecake! I am a HUGE fan that my husband is learning his love for baking :) I will not mention how many sticks of butter we have gone through in the past month.

This is my sweet friend and co-worker Katie Bearden at her going away party. She is moving (well I guess she already moved) to Arkansas to be the womens director at the UofA. I am going to miss being on the same staff team as her! (unless we get placed on the same team...which will be another post all together). Anyway...this picture is hilarious because she is opening her gift from Trace...a TUMBLEWEED. Now she can always remember Lubbock and all its goodness :)

Last weekend we had our annual Tech CRU Spring Banquet. Below is a picture of the staff women that I work with. I cannot tell you how much I absolutely love and adore every single one of these women. Some of them were friends of mine before we ever started working together, and some became great friends because of working together. I love you all dearly and don't know what I will do without you in my daily life!

And just for fun...here is Brett looking studly before our banquet!

That's all for now, but check back soon for an update on Brett and I and our upcoming transition!

Reed now Jones

My good friend Megan Reed (now Jones) got married this past weekend and it was SO MUCH FUN! I will have a hard time transitioning to her new last name considering I almost always call her 'Reed' or 'Reeders'. I think that will probably still stick...sorry Steven!

So I wrote a post a few weeks ago about her shower and her awesome fiance (now husband) Steven. Well seeing them interact this weekend was even more affirming on how much I love that they are together! I had a lot of fun with the girls on Friday night as we went out on the town...aka scavenger hunt in our pj's to places around Midland that were special to Megan and Steven :)  It was such a good time of connecting with friends I don't see as much anymore (that's a tribute to you Ash, Mary, and Reed!).

on our scavenger hunt we had to reenact Megan and Stevens first kiss...I'll leave it to your imagination as to what the heck was going on here!
I felt VERY special to be an honorary bridesmaid in this wedding. Reed, Kelli, Cotter, and I lived together for 1 year in college and it was one of the most fun years of my college life! That year we found out that Reed had a 'secret life'. Everyday she would walk in talking to someone on the phone and when we asked who it was she would say "oh it's so and so, my best friend from ____". Needless to say, it seemed like she had 500 best friends, yet we didn't know any of them. Hence why we called it her secret life. But anyway, considering the fact that Reed is friends with EVERYONE and literally has like 500 people who she could call her best friend, I truly did feel honored to be a part of her special day!

Here are some more of my favorites from the weekend...

Reed and her pretty momma!

Reed and her MOH Badash!

All the bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids!
Thanks Brett for taking this one!

me and my love

sweet father daughter dance...it added to the MANY tears during this wedding!

Until next time!

i don't know what to title this

Sometimes the "title" portion of blogging stresses me out...thus the title of this one is exactly what I think most of the time that I come to blog. "I don't know what to title this". So, lots of fun stuff has been going on: b-day celebrations, fun work stuff, an exciting wedding coming up, good times with good friends, etc. So I know I need to blog because I haven't in a while and I know you people are missing me, but I can't think of something particular to talk about...so here is a random list.

1. Brett and I went to Blue Sky last weekend with lots of friends (mainly our staff team) to celebrate our birthdays. It was really fun and we felt very loved and appreciated.
Kelli, Katie and I at the birthday dinner!

2. Brett is talking at our CRU meeting this week (Thursday, April 14th) about the idol of success. It is based off of a chapter in Tim Keller's book Counterfeit God's. Haven't read the book myself but based off of everyone I know who has raved about it, I'd recommend it.

3. I watched the 1st Chronicles of Narnia movie last night (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe). I absolutely loved it and cried a lot. I knew it had spiritual undertones in it, but I didn't realize that they weren't exactly undertones...they are like THE tone. The gospel was so beautifully depicted in this movie that it brought me to tears. I know, I know, I'm like 4 years behind on these movies...gimme a break.

4. My good friend and roommate for 1 year of college is getting MARRIED this weekend! I'm excited for Megan Reed's wedding :)

5. CONFESSION: I'm secretly (not a secret anymore I guess) scared that Brett and I aren't going to have cute kids. 1. because I simply just can't picture it and 2. because my niece is so cute and I just don't think that my kid will be able to beat her cuteness. It's painfully obvious whenever you have one cousin that's way cuter than the other. Well anyway...Brett and I saw a kid at church last week that looked EXACTLY like Brett did as a kid...AND HE WAS CUTE!

For fun so you can see her cuteness, my niece Braelyn.
Okay that's all for now....hopefully I'll have something more exciting to write about soon :).
